Fourteen-year-old Sora has a plan: sneak her little brother Ren out of summer camp, catch the last ferry at nine, and cross the bay to reach their dad before it's too late. A notebook. A memorized route. A loose board in the fence. Ferry, bus, train. Simple. But as the two of them thread through forests, climb ridgelines, and survive one terrifyingly close encounter with a bear — the parents they're racing toward sit in silence across a mediator's table. And something vast and impossible begins to move through the clouds above them all.
